How do I make these images my desktop wallpaper?
First find the image you want and make sure you are looking at the large version. If its the only image on the page and takes up most the page you are in the right place. If not click on the image you want until its blown up. Next right click the image. In Internet Explorer right mouse click the picture and set as background. In mozilla right mouse click the image and "set as desktop background". If you aren't sure which browser you have just follow the directions for internet explorer.
Why is my wallpaper image pixelated?
The most likely reason would be that you saved the thumbnail. If you saved the small square image (the one about the size of book of matches to your computer and made it your desktop background then it's going to look like crap. Those small images are only the thumbnails. They are the small preview images. Large images take awhile to load and so we put small previews on the page. You need to click on the small image and let it take you to the large image. Then right click that image and either save it for later or set it as your wallpaper.
Why is my desktop wallpaper stretched or distorted?
My best guess is that you set the wallpaper as stretched and not centered. These images are large enough that you can select centered when setting your desktop wallpaper.
Why is the desktop wallpaper free?
It's free because it doesn't cost anything? Duh... joking. It's free because these images are already free. The images are public domain images, so we don't charge you.
What is creative commons?
Creative Commons provides free tools that let authors, scientists, artists, and educators easily mark their creative work with the freedoms they want it to carry. You can use CC to change your copyright terms from "All Rights Reserved" to "Some Rights Reserved."
Are these pictures free for commercial printing and what not?
These images are either public domain images or creative commons images, or both. So you may use them royalty free commercially withouth paying costly fees.
